Don't settle with your current mortgage lender. Shop around. By doing so, you can save a lot more than you think on closing costs and even the rate itself. Compare and contract and go back to the lenders to see if they can match or beat rates and costs!

Once you apply for a refinance, you can shop around for 45 days without it hitting your credit score. That means, you'll still get multiple inquiries but your credit score will be impacted as if there was one 1 inquiry. That should incent you to absolutely get the best deal you can get!

No real pointers other than to say that I had a good experience with Better Mortgage. Would highly recommend you check that out if you value the online (and fast), high-tech experience. I refinanced with them and did not end up going with my original lender.
